St Josephs Parish Murgon

Durong artefacts
Crystal cruet set and candle holders, and bell used to say those early home Masses at 'Duffield' Station and is still treasured by the Duff family today.

Long before Durong was established Mass was celebrated in family homes. There were no priests in the area in the 1920s and people relied on the occasional visit of a passing priest (sometimes on horseback) to celebrate Mass and it was always a very special occasion. Local families self-funded and erected the Church in Durong in 1966.
