Wondai is located 15kms south of Murgon. The town has a population of 4,700 with around 750 Catholics. The town has a shopping precinct, commerce, retirement village. Many people come to live in Wondai in their retirement. The town hosts a Timber Museum, Heritage Museum and Art Gallery. It is a delightful centre for relaxing in. The word 'wondai' is taken from the local Indigenous language of the Wakka Wakka people and means 'wild dog'.
